A slow start

A slow start to Friday after a long Thursday. Plans for breakfast were soon shelved in favour of a lie-in and coffee from the bagel shop downstairs. Eventually the day started. After 11am and the CMA app reported both Riverside and Amp stages were now at capacity. We walked down 4th to Broadway and returned to Lucky Bastard Saloon. Alternating […]

Nissan Stadium

The stadium was only a twenty minute walk from the hotel. The road closures, fenced off walkways, police traffic officers etc made the walk super easy… even if it seemed uphill in both directions! Stadium has slick security and pass checking and we were in our seats within minutes of arriving. The seats are club level, a few steps away […]

Surprisingly hilly…

…was my initial impression of walking round the city! We popped out after breakfast to a nearby Walgreens to stock up on bottled water and soda. Whilst the room was well stocked with snacks and minibar options these were all priced as though some Zimbabwean hyperinflation had occurred during the elevator ride to our room. I’ve said it before – […]

Good Morning Nashville

Woke up fairly early. In room coffee machine is another one of those awful brown sludge creation machines. So, I popped down to the lobby to grab breakfast from the famous Bagel Shop, Coffee much better. Bagel kind of spectacular. Lobby is bright and quiet. Less 70s beige than the rooms!

The Fairlane Hotel

Quirky, ex-bank converted into a hotel. Building is 50 years old this year and is a celebration of 70s style… which is an Oxymoron to me. I never considered the 70s stylish!? Overall, it’s a very comfortable but odd looking place!

LHR to BNA

Overnighted at the Sofitel. Pretty much the same as every other time we have stayed here. Mattress too soft, rooms a little tired, but oh so convenient. Popped down to the club lounge and got a couple of drinks and nibbles. All complimentary, so shouldn’t really complain. Decided against trekking back into the terminal for dinner. limited choice prior to […]

Home.

Gate area… this represents why the excitement of travel has been lost. Flat, white, unflattering lighting.. seats from a hospital A&E, carpet from a defunct Debenhams… We boarded out 787 Dreamliner more or less on time. Cabin is nicer, more roomy and has huge windows compared to other aircraft. We pushed back bang on time. I opted for the Aztec […]

Homeward bound

Last day was a bit of a drag. Late evening flights work well for body clock adjustment, but you spend the day trying to occupy yourself and manage your luggage. We had the car and everything fit in the boot (trunk) just fine. So we went for a drive. We headed out to the Florida Cape Lighthouse. Several cruise ships […]

Art Deco?

Another frustration about the Betsy – it’s supposed to be an Art Deco masterpiece, but it really isn’t. Walls adorned with photographs and an infatuation with random books has devalued the building. It’s not as though it’s driven by sustainability – there is nothing eco about the place. Genuinely, the owners have ****ed the hotel’s origins. such a shame. We headed […]
