Drive to the Keys…

Checked out of the Royal Pacific Resort by 9:30am and headed for the Florida Turnpike. It’s a fairly long drive. Around 340 miles and five plus hours. Posted speed limit is 70mph on much of the turnpike, but it’s disregarded by everyone! I watch a state trooper tailgate someone at over 80mph! We stopped for fuel and lunch at one […]

Jimmy Buffet’s Margarita Ville

First impressions – bit kitsch… but decent air conditioning and good live music improved the experience. Food options were a bit different too. We shared an appetiser of honey glazed boneless chicken wings which were really good And picked our way through a margarita flight Our entrees were equally as good… Afterwards, it was a water taxi back to the […]

Universal Parks

Today was a very lazy start after a very late night. We headed into the parks mid morning. From the outside, no evidence of HHN exists anymore. All signage gone and the Universal arches bare again. Plus all the crowds had disappeared Surprisingly, much of the scare zone furniture and decorations is still here. Guess it will take a few […]

HHN’31 RIP Tour

Headed into the park around 6:30, taking the water taxi in to save our feet. Crowds were already building – we dodged the main entrance and went to the RIP lobby. Checked in and were given lanyards with our passes on. Up until our tour time (and afterwards) these act as express passes saving on queuing time. We just picked […]

Walmart

Did a quick Costco run to pick up a few requested items then onto Walmart. We could have picked up drinks etc at Costco, but really didn’t need those sort of quantities… have you ever seen 5kg jars of mayonnaise? We trekked through Walmart, mostly resisting picking any items up. Bags of Cheetos bigger than pillows. Buckets of sweets for […]

Costco…

This morning was planned to be a lazy start. Breakfast on I drive followed by a trip to a local US Postal Office. Then onto Costco and Walmart. It didn’t go to plan. Denny’s was queuing out of door so we went to the USPS – only to discover a similar queue there. Most of the rides at Universal have […]

Shelby GT-H

Not quite the car booked.. operational changes meant a partial refund, future rental discount and 300bhp reduction. Still it’s quite an animal. 500bhp. Traction control that only works in conditions when you don’t need it. A 10 speed automatic that shifts as smoothly as a piano falling down a fire escape. The bucket seats I find reassuring – the confirm […]
