Crockfords

Arrival at LAS was amazing. Unfortunately, we landed on the Southern runways which are perpendicular to the strip itself. So you don’t get the best views of the strip on approach.

We waited a few minutes for the door to open and we’re in the first ten people off. A relatively short walk, down an escalator and into immigration hall. Smiling, welcome staff guided us to booth 5 where an immigration officer checked our passports, asked a few questions and done. Emerged into baggage reclaim. Pretty sure it was a new record for us – eight minutes from stepping off aircraft to waiting for bags.

All bags arrived and off to the taxi rank. Again, this is well run and we were marshalled to a stand and on our way in a minute!

The Las Vegas traffic has been carnage for years. I first visited in ‘95 and remember crossing the strip not on a pedestrian crossing. A bit of jaywalking.. you’d be brave to try that today. Traffic is either stationary or sprinting away from lights. All of it is coping with crazy road closure and roadworks. Driver said it’s been bad since F1 was announced. And shows little sign of improving.

We chuckled at an billboard that said “smile you’re on cannabis”. The sign was opposite the “Dispensary” which appeared to have a drive through?! The driver asked if we wanted to stop… nah.

It took a good half an hour to get to the Crockfords private entrance.

Checkin was fine. Had a few minutes wait as only in member of staff. We were given keys to a room/suite on the 60th floor. Dedicated lifts only stop on 1,2,5,60-64. Comically fast. Every trip is a fairground ride experience which does not please Jus.

Room is nicely appointed. Good bathroom. Comfy bed. It’ll do!

Headed back down to the lobby to grab extra water, coke,etc. still full from the second food service on the plane, so didn’t bother to find dinner.

Shower, cold/flu drugs for me and bed. Only 9pm here, but our bodies think it’s 5am.
