A morning of pottering

South end of the strip was full of people in costume trying to get you to pay for a photo.. or cluttering up the bridges trying to flog their demo CDs… or charge you a small fortune for a tour to the Hoover Dam etc. Swerving these become tiring. It’s often best to stick to the trams and casino to […]

Carrie Underwood

The lady can sing! She also knows how to put on a good show. The Theatre at Resorts World holds 5000 people. Sound system was excellent and the stage is sophisticated allowing automated scene changes, lifts, water, pyrotechnics etc. Post show we drove back to the NoMaD and grabbed dinner at the Eataly area. Most restaurants were shut. Vegas isn’t […]

NoMaD

A very different hotel. The Crockfords was very much about functionality and space. NoMaD is very themed. Dark furnishings, wooden floors. Comfortable, but nowhere near the space or features. We were surprised to be able to checkin at 11:20am, but no problem as our room was ready. The NoMaD has its own checkin area and elevator bank and is so […]

The Dawg House

Decided to grab a beer and a snack and gamble a bit. Sat at a hi-top table on comfy chairs watching the big screen TVs Got a couple of 32oz beers and a sharing platter. We booked a couple of things online for later in the week. Including U2 tickets. Really irks me to have to pay such high fees […]

Las Vegas Boulevard

The southbound side of the strip was used by the Vegas F1 and was resurfaced. Best road surface I’ve ever driven on! Traffic on this side was fairly quiet as we trundled along. A lot of the scaffolding, lighting, stands etc is still present and slowly being dismantled. The Bellagio fountains are still obscured… On the northbound side, the road […]

Circus Circus

Oh dear.. this place is tired. Saying that, there are signs of some refurbishment going on and the gaming machines are the latest versions. If you don’t like clowns, this is not the resort for you! The place was dead. There seemed to be more staff than patrons and everything felt a little eerie. We found our way out eventually, more […]

Denny’s!

A slow start… our bodies are beginning to adapt to the timezone. We needed some room supplies and brunch, so headed across the road to Denny’s and Walgreens. Ah… Denny’s – such great comfort food! We were welcomed and the staff were epically polite to us. But we noted fellow (hispanic) guests were less well treated, quite rudely in fact. […]

Famous Foods – second attempt!

We gave the high tech dinner another pass. Still, more than half of the ordering terminals were foobarred. We chose a working terminal, placed our order and used an email address rather than phone number… It worked. An email confirmation and a further email when ready to collect.. We decided to go for spicy chicken, fries etc. the area was […]

Red Rock Casino

I’ve heard about this place, but never visited. It’s actually a very impressive off-strip casino. Big place, extensive food options including a food court. Nice pool area. Cinema, bowling lanes, kids club(!?), bingo hall etc. a complete, self contained resort, We grabbed lunch here. A Vegas Cheesesteak sandwich each. Good, honest stodge! They also had a very impressive cake selection. […]
