Red Rock Canyon

Now we have a car… may as well use it. Decided to head out to the mountains for some fresh air. The scenic drive is very good. They have built a dedicated road through the area with parking points strategically placed around the circuit. The visitors centre is very informative too. We set off on the 40 minute drive out. […]

Rental car pick up.

Ended up using hertz, as they are on-site here at Resorts World. Ended up with a Cadillac XT5. A midsize luxury SUV. It’s okay. All the toys, engine sounds good and I’ve do idea what it does with it 300+ bhp, but a significant amount of it never makes it to the wheels!

Randy’s Donuts

Completely forgot to photograph dinner… at Famous Foods. Sort of a high tech food court. In theory you order on a central touchscreen from multiple venues what food you want and the message you when to collect. I say in theory as over half of the touch screen weren’t working. We ordered and paid, but received no confirmation or messages. […]

A gentle stroll

These strip hotels are big. Just walking to the next hotel and back could be a mile plus. The walk from our room, through the casino and out onto the strip is a good ten minute walk! We headed out to the Fashion Show Mall. As usual most escalators outside of the actual casinos are broken. They fence them off […]

Cool Vegas

Pretty chilly here in the valley. Even colder in the mountains. Picking a rental car up tomorrow and wondering if a trip up to Death Valley or Red Rock Canyon might be good. Currently 7:30am and thinking about a Power Nap! Think we may pop down to Fashion Show Mall and then across to the Wynn for brunch.

Sunday Morning

Woke up very early. Actually woke up several times. This cold is annoying. Got up at 4:30 and popped down to casino floor. The sports book bar (Dawg House) wasn’t properly open and didn’t appear to have any screens showing the F1. Grabbed Starbucks coffees and paninis/croissants and headed back to room to watch the Grand Prix and the sun […]

Viva! (by Ray Garcia)

A couple of beers in the Famous Food area kicked off the evening. We could have served ourselves using the card system… you leave your credit card to secure the tab and they give you a beer card. You tap this on any of the 30+ pumps and pour your own. You are charged by the ounce rather than pint […]

Breakfast.

Headed down to the casino floor for a wander and to find some breakfast. Resort is very nice. As per all the new developments, the Casino itself is of lesser importance than in older resorts. They consider themselves entertainment complexes and the loyalty scheme here rewards you as much for dining in their restaurants as for gambling. For a 24 […]

Starbucks

I have adopted my USA Starbucks name… It’s easier than trying to get GRAEME understood. Think I ordered a Chestnut Praline Latte. One of their Christmas drinks. More sugar than coffee I suspect. Place was very busy, not made any quicker by a woman who got to the counter and opened a sheet of paper with about nine people’s order […]

Good morning

Slept okay. Woke up just before 6am, watched the F1 qualifying on ESPN! Had coffee from the in room Nespresso machine and admired the view. A bit of unpacking and then we need breakfast! Discovered there’s a Starbucks a few yards from our elevator bank. L4 to F18 on the map! Resort Map
