Breakfast.
Headed down to the casino floor for a wander and to find some breakfast.
Resort is very nice. As per all the new developments, the Casino itself is of lesser importance than in older resorts. They consider themselves entertainment complexes and the loyalty scheme here rewards you as much for dining in their restaurants as for gambling.
For a 24 hour city, much of it was shut until 10am!
The stand out feature of this complex is the cross section of retail and food options. It caters for fast food (on a budget) through to full fine dining. Same with the shops – mid to high end brands. Whilst I still prefer the Wynn, the option to grab a simple Taco or pizza slice is great.
The food court has plenty of options and even has a self service bar setup.
Abundant retail and dining options as you’d well expect. These are mostly in an area called The District adjacent to the casino floor.
Before 9am, this place is pretty quiet and mostly closed.
The Resorts World site occupies what used to be The Stardust casino.
Demolished a few years back. I think it may have been the last hotel on the strip to have been imploded in 2007?
There is artwork around the place to mark this relationship.
We had planned on the Dawg House for breakfast, but frankly couldn’t work out if it was table service or not?! We ended up at the newly opened Juniors, which is apparently a famous brand in the US…
Jus had griddle cakes (never heard pancakes called this before) and I had corn beef hash.
And it wouldn’t be vegas if you didn’t have a cocktail of sorts… Bloody Mary
All in, with standard issue dire coffee it was $70 ex tip.
We paid and headed across the strip to a Walgreens as I have developed a stinking cold and need drugs and tissues. We also stocked up on room snacks and soft drinks to avoid the MBBR – mini bar bankruptcy risk.
We may play russian roulette later – where you have to take something out of the mini bar, read it’s info and put it back before it auto bills you!
Back to room to stash our purchases and for me to dose up. Plan to chill out for an hour or so then head to the Gentings Loyalty desk to sign up. The app registration won’t recognise my first name?! Maybe I will have to be a Greg for more than just Starbucks?
Our room has a city view – you can see the mountains, Freemont/Downtown etc. the railway tracks which some massive, mile long freight trains pass along… a gentleman’s club “Treasures”… the Circus Circus hotel and its Adventure Dome.. the Strat tower and Battlezone Vegas where you can shoot stuff and drive tanks….
Possibly the least five star views from any five star hotel?!
