Homeward bound

Last day was a bit of a drag. Late evening flights work well for body clock adjustment, but you spend the day trying to occupy yourself and manage your luggage.

We had the car and everything fit in the boot (trunk) just fine. So we went for a drive. We headed out to the Florida Cape Lighthouse.

Several cruise ships in port.

It’s a State Park and has some nice beaches, wildlife, eating options etc. it’s about 8 miles from the hotel, but an hours drive away!

The lighthouse is just visible!
Lizard.. lots of them…

It’s was also Veterans Day. This caused a degree of chaos with road closures for parades and various places closed for the day.

We also had to find a pharmacy as we have both been bitten by some sort of insects many many times. Very itchy.

Still very warm in Miami.

We pretty much failed in everything we had planned to do. Got to a Steak and Shake and realised we weren’t hungry!

Ended up heading to the airport a bit early. Couldn’t really waste anymore time in the car as I’d managed to get its fuel level down to as close to zero as I fancied on the day of a flight!

The car was bonkers. I won’t be renting one again. It’s performance is blistering and it’s a hoot in the dry. But it’s not exactly a comfortable cruiser. I think we averaged 17mpg overall…

Checked in easily.

Security was a bit of a pain – mainly because off the “ass hat” In front of us who used seven trays and repacked everything and put his shoes on bringing the whole line to a halt.

We littered about a bit and then found a quiet corner of the lounge to set up camp for a couple of hours.

Just the mile long walk to the gate to tackle next!
