Rain?

We headed out onto Ocean Drive. Dusk had rolled in and darker sooner with the hour going back at the weekend.

The sky started to look a bit moody and suddenly we were hit by the sort of rain I’ve only encountered in a Florida. It’s like the raindrops are three times bigger here.

We sheltered alongside some public restrooms and then dashed across the road into the first interesting looking restaurant- a Cuban restaurant.

Nice decor and atmosphere. We ordered Cuban beers and mojitos and sampler plates to start. Crispy chicken entree for Jus and I had the Cuban Combo. Not having eaten Cuban before, having a bit of a mixed meal seemed a good idea…

Combo starter
Crispy chicken, rice and beans
No idea… but a lot of it.

Could neither finish it nor consider dessert. We were given complimentary digestifs/palette refreshers. We paid and headed back out into a very soggy Ocean Drive.

Didn’t really fancy walking around in the rain, so hurried back to hotel. Live jazz in the main lobby. seriously expensive bar prices and not really my taste in jazz, so made our way back to the room.

Had a shower and ordered extra pillows from the pillow menu along with some ice. Early night and hoping for weather to improve overnight, this hotel has its own beach area with lots of fancy services.. none of which really work in a hurricane!
