Good Morning Las Vegas
Again will miss these views. Whilst not the best strip view it was nice to have a view…
We had organised a late check out for 1pm. Didn’t stop the management from knocking on our door at 11:30 though.
Anyway, we got up and dragged out tired bodies down to the Primrose Lounge for breakfast.
We had a comp slip to use up.
Breakfast was good – a little bit massive!
Jus had blueberry pancakes which had so much fruit in, must surely have counted as one of the five-a-day?
I had the traditional. Sausage patties, three eggs (over easy), breakfast potatoes, a deep dish(?) pancake and some sourdough toast.
That deep pan pancake was over an inch thick!
We returned to the room packed and checked out at 1pm.
I’m had booked a sedan but was given an SUV. The reason I wanted a sedan is that your luggage is hidden in the boot/trunk. The suv had heavy rear tints but our luggage was visible still.
So we did a quick, final Walmart run and then decided to head up to Mount Charleston. There was a lovely lodge/restaurant up there and we figured we could get lunch there.
Stunning views. The road goes up over 8000ft.
It was nice and chilly up there.
Sadly, the lodge is no more. You can see the wooden terrace where we once sat, but the building has been bulldozed!
The drive was stunning and very few cars on the road. Unfortunately, the ski resort and the state parks were ALL shut!
We found ourselves heading towards Red Rock so decided to swing off the highway into the Casino for a late lunch.
We wanted a sandwich and a soda. It is frankly impossible to buy a normal sandwich anywhere in this state!
The rest was battling traffic to the Car Rental Return which was a pain in the arse as it’s off airport. You dump the car then drag you bags half a mile to a bus stop. The shuttle bus then deposits you at the terminal. I hate this.
We are now sat in the lounge. A crappy lounge at that. At least we have seats and drinks.
Hoping we have a quick meal service and we can get a few hours sleep. And that the UK is warm and sunny…
