End of the Parkway and into the Smokies

Headed out of Ashville and picked up the Blue Ridge Parkway for the final section.

We gradually descended. The scenery gently changing from high country to leafy glades.

Quite punishing for the car brakes!

As soon as you leave the parkway, you enter the Great Smokey Mountains NP.

We stopped off at a very busy Visitor Center.

I think we drove uphill for best part of an hour! Traffic heavy and we abandoned trying to visit a couple of overlooks.

Some of the bends on the descent were interesting!
