Final night at Nissan.
Weather delayed, but it did go ahead.
We caught the tail end of Josh Turner – one of those people whose voice doesn’t match them…
Then a surprise act – Alabama. A country supergroup whose careers span seven decades! I’m not that familiar with them, but you could sense the love, awe and appreciation these 70+ year old guys received from the crowd. I swear, at one point they forgot their own lyrics so the entire audience took over.
After their performance they were presented with a special achievement award and a standing ovation.
Ashley McBryde took to the stage next. Great voice and brilliant lyrics.
Nate Smith covered one of the main stage setups – again, very rock/country.
Dierks Bentley is a favourite of mine. Holding On, Drunk on a Plane etc.. crowd loved him.
During the evening, it did rain and we and 5000 others sheltered in the huge club lounge for a few minutes.
With the weather delays it was going to be a very late night and I have a 350 mile drive tomorrow. So, reluctantly we left during Tim McGraw and missed Luke Bryan which( is a bit gutting.
We walked back to the hotel a final time. Under darker, wetter skies…
