Checked in and through security in 15 minutes. Got the works at security too… scanned, re-scanned, frisked/massaged, swabbed.

All happened quickly and I was ejected from the system with bags and belt in a plastic tray whilst trying to hold my trousers up.

We took the stairs and got up first level before being shouted at by a BA staff member. “You have to take the lift“. <sigh> Rude and unnecessary encounter.

Refused to use the lift and was told, despite her colleague telling us to, we couldn’t use the stairs. We headed to the North Lounge instead but it was running at capacity.

Ended up heading to B terminal and using the smaller, quieter lounge there.

We did drop into duty free… travel may be more challenging post Brexit, but at least you can get plastered cheaply on the other end.
